Further to what I was saying beyond about there being very few quality writers. Of course, Bird and Fortune are among the best. Just not the best performers... Beautiful comic writing though.
Yes indeed. In their defence I would offer that they are of that generation that values content over style, so the writing will always trump the performance, although I quite like their performances, perhaps because I am, by dint of having cousins as old as them, even though they are just old enough to be my father, of their generation.
We have suffered the collapse in engineering, technology and design that followed the redundancy of those educated and skilled men who made things worth buying and we're about to suffer the collapse in culture that must follow the deaths of those educated and erudite men, and occasionally women, who made things worth listening to, watching or reading.
However rich I am told my life is now, when I look back forty or fifty years I cannot escape the feeling that I have been culturally beggared.
This blog is a combination of desk tidy, white board and waste bin for all those not so trivial trivial little things I would like to record that are without the remit of my other blogs., all of which are trivial tat when 'all is said and done'.
Well deserved personal invective is acceptable here, as are egregious ad hominem attacks.
