Constructed re-using materials from the garden (hence its ugliness):
This is what the area looked like before my efforts:
The house is ghastly. I left the choice up to Mrs Gruff and did not see it until she had put down a non-refundable deposit for credit checks and so on, a mistake I will not make again.

I think it looks okay.
Have you moved?
We moved here about a year ago but are bedevilled by a constant lack of cash and my natural reluctance to spend it, and my time and effort, improving property that is not mine. Unfortunately however, I could not accept the garden as it was and am slowly changing things, hindered as well by the quarterly inspection visits of an annoying little woman from the managing agents.
Even at first sight I was horrified by the place; it screams 'don't be fucking stupid'. Just where Mrs Gruff's head was when she agreed to take it I can only speculate.
Why do they do quarterly inspections? I'd find that really intrusive!
It's still worth it to make your garden nice [for your immediate enjoyment] even if you don't own it. You never know, you could be living there years.
You should grow giant vegetables in your garden! :)
I imagine they do them because they enjoy intruding and can, it being too late to cancel the arrangements once the money has been paid. It didn't cross my mind to ask, since no one has ever carried out inspections in any other property I've lived in. I shall certainly do so next time. I shall also take care of the arrangements myself and not leave things up to Mrs Gruff.
