A lovely aircraft - the inspiration for the Lockheed Constellation.
I was told, long ago, that the Constellation was designed to fulfill a British transport specification. I've found nothing to support that assertion, and the lease-lend development agreements that I'm aware of suggest the contrary, but I know that anecdotal evidence often defies the 'facts'.
